Artist Bio

Masha Mapenzi is a popular Kenyan Gospel Artiste from the Kilifi Coastal region of Kenya. Her music is a fusion of Chakacha, Taarab, Bango, and Afrobeat styles.

Besides the popular afro-fused beats that characterize her music, Masha’s voice is rare in its range and depth. In fact, her unique rich voice is what led to her discovery in 2003 when she won the M-Net POP Idols contest after performing her own rendition of the famous hymn, “When Peace, Like a River”. That single performance catapulted her into a Gospel music career that has so far seen her produce two quality albums. The first album, Uhiko, include the following highly popular singles: Uhiko, Nainua Macho Yangu, Mahabubu, Nafsi Yangu, Kala Urere, Tamu Tamu, Najua Wanipenda, Nafuraha, Namvera, and Mahewa.

Her second and newest album, Dua, has just rolled off production lines (2019) and it’s ready for release. It features the following 13 tracks: Nikone, Marimwengu, Mwana Kondoo, Dua, Nafuraha, Ibada Yangu, Omba Usichoke, Chombo, Futa Machozi, Thawala, Tukuza, Ufalme, and Bado. The ‘Uhiko’ album won her the Diaspora Artist of the year 2010 and Coast Awards-Runner up Female Artist of the year 2010.

What sets her music apart is the unapologetic strong afro-feel and beat that resonates with audiences across Africa and beyond.
